Iowa Tourism Office offers tips for marketing to tourists

Local businesses and attractions have free marketing tools at their fingertips, with the help of the Iowa Tourism Office.

Stephanie Neppl, Tourism Liaison with the Iowa Tourism Office, presented two sessions at the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College on Tuesday, October 22. She discussed marketing initiatives currently underway, and the ways that retailers, restaurants, attractions and other organizations can market to tourists.

According to Neppl, the Travel Iowa website (www.traveliowa.com) is viewed by 2 million visitors each year. Iowa adventures and activities are also shared through the distribution of more than 100,000 printed travel guides.

Neppl showed session attendees how to access and set up some of the free marketing resources available.
