Free workshop with Travel Iowa on October 22

Tourism Tools and Tips: Free marketing tools to boost your business

Local businesses and organizations will have an opportunity to learn about free marketing tools offered through the Iowa Tourism Office at two workshops on Tuesday, October 22.

Stephanie Neppl, Tourism Liaison with the Iowa Tourism Office, will offer the free, hands-on workshops at the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College at 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Each session lasts approximately an hour.

Participants will learn how to become more integrated with State of Iowa marketing initiatives and how to use free tools available to promote businesses, attractions and events to potential visitors. Topics will include an overview of the Iowa Tourism Office’s marketing initiatives, how to create and update a free profile on Travel Iowa (www.traveliowa.com) and other tools to assist with promotion.

“This session will offer good information for any business, attraction or organization that wants to draw more customers and visitors. These tools are especially relevant for our local museums, eating and drinking establishments, retail stores and event planners,” said Shelly Brown, Tietz Entrepreneurial Center Coordinator and Algona Campus Supervisor at Iowa Lakes Community College.

The sessions are offered in collaboration by the Algona Area Economic Development Corporation, Tietz Entrepreneurial Center and the Iowa Tourism Office.

Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required by Friday, October 18. Walk-ins are welcome. To register, call 800.252.5664, register online at www.iowalakes.edu/ce, or contact Shelly Brown at 515.295.8531.
