The Tietz Entrepreneurial Center, located on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College, provides aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners with information and resources essential for business success, as well as technical assistance in business development and planning. The Center offers classes and workshops on a broad range of topics to support the development and growth of businesses. Specialized training sessions can be designed to suit customized needs.
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has a local office in Spencer, Iowa. SBDC provides confidential, complimentary business consulting services including business plan development, market research, marketing strategies and cash flow projections. Economic Development Organizations
The Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development office is located in Algona and serves both Kossuth and Palo Alto Counties. K/PACEDC focuses on business assistance, workforce initiatives, networking and leadership opportunities, economic impact analysis and other key projects. The Algona Area Economic Development Corporation works with a local board of community members and City of Algona staff to focus on workforce initiatives, business incentives and other projects. Algona Municipal Utilities (AMU) owns and operates electric, water and communications utilities within Algona. AMU wires the community for success with fiber-optic service in the downtown business district and within the city’s industrial park, along with high-speed service extending to homes and businesses. In addition, AMU provides a revolving loan fund program to support businesses in the community.
